By Firefighter Mike Cline
June 1, 2018

At ~9:17 PM Westmorland 911 dispatched Station 20 for a unattended fire that was endangering utility lines at 4681 Mill Stream Court. Station 20 (Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company) responded with Engine 20 (4 firefighters including Captain 20), with Asst. Chief 20 going directly to the scene and 1 additional firefighter on standby at Station 20. Upon Engine 20's arrival on scene, the fire was threatening the over head telephone and cable tv lines. Engine 20 firefighters used an attack water line and hand tools to extinguish the fire, wet down the adjacent area, and overhaul the fire area. Asst. Chief 20 informed Westmorland 911 that the fire was extinguished, and to notify Windstream (Telephone Co.) and Xfinity (Cable TV Co.) of possible damage to their lines. Further the Murrysville Police Department was informed of the unattended burn. Upon completion of all the above actions, Asst. Chief 20 released Engine 20 for return to station.
