By Firefighter Mike Cline
October 6, 2018

At ~2:53 PM, Westmorland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a tree into utility lines at the intersection of School Road South and Hoy Farm Road. Station 20 dispatched Engine 20 (2 firefighters), and upon arrival at the scene found a tree had fallen into the telephone lines, and was blocking the roadway. The Murrysville Police Department controlled traffic while Station 20's crew used a chainsaw to clear the tree from both the telephone lines and the roadway. There was no breakage in the telephone lines, and Engine 20's crew had Westmorland 911 notify Windstream of the incident. Engine 20 was released for return to station by the Murrysville Police after the roadway was cleared.
