By Secretary Mike Cline
August 11, 2019

At ~ 5:42 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a -vehicle collision at the Intersection of William Penn Highway and Old William Penn Highway (Wendy's Intersection). Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (6 firefighters including Lieutenant 20). Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to assist Station 20: Station 170 (Monroeville #4), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), the Murrysville Police and the Monroeville Police. Rescue 20 arrived on scene, with Lieutenant 20 establishing command, finding that both eastbound lanes of William Penn Highway was blocked, with one vehicle leaking fluids onto the roadway, and the occupants of the vehicles had self-extricated. While Rescue 20's crew remediated the fluid leaking form the one vehicle and stabilized another vehicle, Station 610 EMS personnel assessed the vehicle occupants and transported one patient to a local hospital. Command 20 determined that Stations 20 and 610 had sufficient assets present to remediate the incident, so all Station 170 units were released from the scene. Magill's Towing recovered two of the vehicles, with the third vehicle able to drive away from the scene. Once the vehicles were removed from the scene, the eastbound lanes of William Penn Highway were reopened, and Command 20 returned Rescue 20 to service and station.
