By Secretary Mike Cline
January 22, 2020

At ~ 10:35 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a single vehicle collision with entrapment on Meadowbrook Road. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (4 firefighters including Assistant Chief 20 and Sergeant 20), with 3 firefighters (including Chief 20) going directly to the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 9 (Level Green VFC), and the Murrysville Police. The Murrysville Police had command of the incident, closing down Meadowbrook Road as the Fire and EMS Units arrived at the scene. The firefighters found that the automobile had left the roadway, hit a utility pole which damaged the driver's side of the vehicle entrapping the operator. The combined fire/rescue crews of Rescues 20, 64 and 78 removed the driver's side of the vehicle, assisted the Station 610 EMS personnel on extricating the driver from the vehicle, and loading the patient into an ambulance. The ambulance transported the patient to the Murrysville VFC Fire Grounds for aerial medevac by Stat Medevac for transport to a local trauma center. Chief 20 controlled the landing zone, with Rescues 78 and 9 providing fire safety watch. Rescues 20 and 64 remained at the collision site until the vehicle was recovered by McElhinney's Service. Once the vehicle was removed, the Murrysville Police released all remaining Fire/EMS Units for return to service and station. Rescue 20 returned to service and station.
