At ~ 7:28 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at Redstone Highlands-Murrysville. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (3 firefighters), with Lieutenant 20 going directly to the scene. Westmoreland 911 dispatched the following stations to assist Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 87 (Harrison City VFC), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. Lieutenant 20 was first on scene, established command and found that a broken water pipe had activated the AFA System. The broken water pipe flooded the ground floor wing within the facility, however the facility staff evacuated the residents to safety. Upon arrival of the fire/EMS units and the facility maintenance staff, the water flow was turned off, and the firefighters assisted the maintenance staff in removing the water from the flooded areas. Once the flooding was remediated, Command 20 turned the facility back to the Redstone Maintenance Staff to complete the cleanup, and all fire/EMS units were returned to service and station.
