At ~ 9:58 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) to assist Station 78 (Sardis VFC) for an odor of natural gas from a stove in a home on Hemlock Lane. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (3 firefighters including Lieutenant 20), with 3 additional firefighters on standby at the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched Station 236 (Holiday Park VFC). Engine 78 was first on scene, with Chief 78 establishing command, upon investigation found that the homeowner had shut off the stove and ventilated the home, so the firefighters received negative readings from their 5-Gas Meters. Command 78 cancelled all responding units other than Engine 78. Truck 20 returned to service and station.
