At ~ 2:23 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a reported structure fire on School Road North. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (4 firefighters), with Chief 20, Assistant Chief 20 and Chaplain 20 going directly to the scene, with an additional firefighter manning the station. Westmoreland 911 dispatched the following stations to assist Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 170 (Monroeville #4) for the rapid intervention team, Station 63 (Claridge VFC) for salvage, Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established command, found smoke coming from the structure, and ensured that the occupants were out of the home. Chief 20 arrived and was in charge of interior operations and directed combined crews of firefighters to locate and extinguish the fire, which was held to the first floor great room. After the fire was extinguished, crews worked on overhaul and salvage of the residence while simultaneously ventilating. Upon completion of ventilation and the investigation for origin and cause, Command 20 turned the house back to the homeowner, and all responding Fire/EMS units were released for return to service and station.
