At ~ 12:11 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at the Franklin Regional High School. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (3 firefighters including Assistant Chief 20 and Sergeant 20), with 2 firefighters (Chief 20 and Captain 20) going directly to the scene, and 3 firefighters on standby at the station with Engine 20. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 236 (Holiday Park VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Captain 20 and Truck 20 were first on scene with Assistant Chief 20 establishing command, finding no smoke or fire coming from the structure and the student body evacuated from the school. Upon entry of the school, it was found that a defective detector had activated the AFA System. Command 20 returned all responding units except for Truck 20, and upon reset of the AFA system, the school was turned over to the school administration, and Truck 20 returned to service and station.
