At ~4:06 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a working chimney fire at a home on Park Forest Lane. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (5 firefighters including Lieutenant 20), with Chief 20 and Assistant Chief 20 going directly to the scene, and 2 additional firefighters on standby at the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 9 (Level Green VFC), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established command, and ensured that the home's occupants were out of the structure. Command was passed to Chief 20 upon his arrival, with Engines 20, 78, 64 and Medic 613 arriving at the scene. Command 20 determined that sufficient firefighting resources were at the scene, and returned Engines 22-1 and 9-2 to service and station. The combined firefighter crews checked for extension and cleared the chimney flue of built up creosote. Once the home was safe for reoccupation, Command 20 returned the home to the homeowner, and returned all remaining Fire and EMS Units to service and station.
