At ~4:26 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a brush fire that was threatening a residence on Lyons Run Road. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (3 firefighters including Assistant Chief 20 and Lieutenant 20), Squad 20 (3 firefighters), with 4 firefighters (including Chief 20 and Captain 20) going directly to the scene, and 2 firefighters on standby at the station in case additional apparatus was needed. Westmoreland 911 dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 9 (Level Green VFC), Station 7 (Paintertown VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Engine 20 and the direct responding Station 20 firefighters were first on scene, with Assistant Chief 20 establishing command, and finding that an individual had accidently started a brush fire (not endangering), while burning trash. With the arrival of Squad 20, Brush 7, Attack 9, Support 610, and Medic 613, Command 20 determined that sufficient firefighting resources were on scene, so the enroute Station 64 and 78 units were cancelled. The combined firefighter crews extinguished the brush fire before it reached the residence. Once the fire was extinguished, Command 20 returned all on scene units to service and station.
