| At ~ 7:59 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of an odor of natural gas in a home on Covington Court. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (4 firefighters including Lieutenant 20), Engine 20 (4 firefighters including Sergeant 20), with Chief 20 and Assistant Chief 20 responding directly to the scene, and 9 additional firefighters (including Captain 20) on standby at the station ready to crew Rescue 20 and Squad 20). Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 9 (Level Green VFC), and Station 78 (Sardis VFC). Chief 20 and Assistant Chief were first on scene, with Chief 20 establishing the command, and finding that the home's occupants had evacuated the structure. Truck 20 was positioned in front of the structure, while Engine 20 stopped at the nearest hydrant ready to lay a supply line to Truck 20. Truck 20 crew entered the structure and surveyed the interior using 4-gas meters. Finding no evidence of natural gas on the initial search, Command 20 returned all responding units other than Station 20. The Station 20 firefighters conducted a secondary search with 4-gas meters, and confirmed no presence of natural gas within the structure so Command 20 returned the home to its occupants. Command 20 returned all Station 20 units to service and station. |
