At ~ 11:33 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a smell of wires burning in a home on Cal Ken Court. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (4 firefighters), with Assistant Chief 20 and Sergeant 20 going directly to the scene, and 3 firefighters on standby at the station prepared to deploy Truck 20. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established the command, finding no smoke or fire coming from the structure, and the home's occupants were out of the structure. Squad 22, Engine 78, Engine 20 and Medic 613 arrived at the scene, with Engine 64 and the Murrysville Police taking up support positions on Sardis Road. The homeowner had turned off the home's electricity during the evacuation, and upon entry by the combined interior firefighter team found that the electrical fire had self extinguished, and through the use of Thermal Imaging Cameras found that there was no extension of the fire. The firefighters capped the exposed electrical wires, and returned the home to owner, with the recommendation that an electrician inspect and repair the damage. Command 20 returned all units including Engine 20 to service and station.
