At ~ 8:36 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at the Maple Commons Shopping Plaza. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (5 firefighters), with Chief 20 and Assistant Chief 20 going directly to the scene, and a additional firefighter/driver on standby at the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 170 (Monroeville #4), with Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One) on standby. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established command, found no fire or smoke coming from the structure, and all occupants had evacuated the structure. Truck 20, Truck 170, Engine 64, Squad 22, Engine 78 and Chief 20 arrived on scene, with command being passed to Chief 20. Command 20 returned all responding units except for Trucks 20 and 170. Upon investigation it was found that smoke from an overheated wax pot at the European Wax Center had activated the structure's AFA System. The sources of the AFA activation was corrected, and the structure's AFA System was reset. Command 20 returned Truck 20 and Truck 170 to service and station.
