At ~ 7:40 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a Utility Pole and Utility Wires on fire beside the Franklin Regional High School. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (4 firefighters including Lieutenant 20), with 2 firefighters (including Assistant Chief 20) going directly to the scene, and an additional firefighter/engineer on standby at the station in case additional apparatus was needed at the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One) and the Murrysville Police Department tor the incident. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established the command, and found that the telephone lines at a splice box were on fire. Command 20 notified Westmoreland 911 of the utility pole number so both Windstream and West Penn Power could dispatch repair crew to the scene. Upon Rescue 20’s arrival its crew used a ground ladder and dry chemical fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire on the wires and pole. Once the fire was extinguished, Command 20 turned the scene over to the School District Police and Maintenance Departments, and returned Rescue 20 to service and station.
