At ~1:10 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at Sloan Elementary School. Station 20 responded with 7 firefighters going to the station to crew Truck 20, while Assistant Chief 20 went directly to the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 87 (Harrison City VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established the command, and found no fire or smoke coming from the structure. Upon investigation, Command 20 found that a water pipe had broken in the kitchen, activating the structure's AFA System. The school maintenance staff had the resources to remediate the issue, reset the AFA System, and Command 20 returned all stations. Truck 20 remained in service and in station.
