At ~9:49 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville, VFC) for a report of a burning odor in a home's basement on Cherry Drive. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (3 firefighters), Squad 20 (2 firefighters), with Lieutenant 20 going directly to the scene, and 1 firefighter manning the station. Westmoreland 911 dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 30 (Delmont VFC), Station 170 (Monroeville #4), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Lieutenant 20 was first on scene, established the command, and found no fire or smoke coming from the structure. Engine 22, Engine 64, Truck 20, Engine 78, Medic 611, and Support 610 arrived on scene. Command 20 determined adequate fire/rescue resources were on scene, and returned all remaining enroute units. Interior firefighters entered the structure, and upon investigation found that the home's electric water heater had malfunctioned. The firefighters disconnected the water heater from the home's electrical system. The structure was deemed safe for reoccupation, and Command 20 returned the home to the homeowner. Command 20 returned all on scene units to service. Truck 20 and Squad 20 returned to service and station.
