At ~3:37 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a vehicle into a utility pole, downing the pole and utility wires onto the roadway on Cline Hollow Road. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (2 firefighters), with 3 firefighters (including Assistant Chief 20) going directly to the scene, and 2 firefighters manning the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police for the incident. The direct responding Station 20 firefighters and Rescue 20 arrived on the scene, to find the Murrysville Police in command of the scene. It was found that a pickup truck rolled down a home's front yard into a utility pole, breaking off the top of the pole, pulling down utility wires, and injuring the operator. After assessing the vehicle operator, Station 610 EMS transported the operator in Medic 614 to a local trauma center. Station 20 firefighters cleared any debris from the roadway.
Command 20 passed the Pole number to Westmoreland 911 so the utility companies could dispatch repair crews to the site. The site was turned over to the Murrysville Police, so Rescue 20 and Assistant Chief 20 could respond to an additional call on Fawnway Drive.
