At ~9:11 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an odor of natural gas in a home on Clover Lane. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (4 firefighters), with 2 firefighters on station standby. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 236 (Holiday Park VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Truck 20 was first on scene, with the senior firefighter establishing the command, and finding the home's occupants outside of the home. The crews of Truck 20 and Engine 170 entered the home, and surveyed the interior with 4-Gas Meters. No evidence of natural gas was detected by the meters, however the firefighters found an odor of natural gas at the water heater gas connection. Command 20 had the home's gas supply turned off, and requested that Westmoreland 911 have Peoples Gas dispatch a technician to the location to further investigate the natural gas leak. The home was deemed safe for reoccupation, so Command 20 was returned it to the homeowner. Command returned all fire/rescue/EMS units, and Truck 20 returned to service and station.
