At ~ 8:33 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at the European Wax Center on on William Penn Highway. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (4 firefighters), with Chief 20 and Assistant Chief 20 going directly to the scene, and 1 firefighter/driver on station standby in case additional apparatus was needed at the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 87 (Harrison City VFC), and Station 170 (Monroeville #4), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Chief 20 and Director 610 were first on scene, with Chief 20 establishing the command, finding no smoke or fire was coming from the structure, and ensuring that all occupants of the strip mall were out of the structure. Engine 22, Truck 20, Engine 64, and Medic 614 arrived on scene, and Command 20 held the incident to the on scene units. Upon investigation, found that the strip mall's AFA System had been activated by fumes from a wax pot inside the European Wax Salon. The AFA system was reset by the firefighters, and structure's occupants were allowed to reenter. Command 20 returned all units including Truck 20 to service and station.
