Student Orientation on Home Fire Safety and the Emergency Services - Mother of Sorrows School

On the morning of 15 February, the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company (Station 20) presented a Home Fire Safety and Fire Apparatus Orientation for the students and teachers of the Kindergarten thru 8th Grade of the Mother of Sorrows School. The firefighters discussed fire prevention within the home, actions that the students should take if there is a fire in the home, demonstrated the Firefighter’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and gave the students and teachers an orientation tour of Engine 20 and its firefighting equipment. Murrysville Medic One presented a brief talk on the capabilities/services that it provides to the community, and how it assists the firefighters at emergency scenes like structure fires. The firefighters of the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company appreciated the opportunity to educate the students of Murrysville on fire safety and prevention.
