At 8:06 AM, Westmorland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of smoke coming from a home on Sardis Road. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (3 firefighters), with 3 firefighters (Chief 20, Assistant Chief 20 and Lieutenant 20) going directly to the scene, and 2 firefighters manning Station 20 in case additional apparatus/equipment was needed at the scene. Westmorland 911 dispatched the following stations to assist Station 20: Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). The Station 20 Officers arrived at the scene simultaneously, observing no fire or smoke coming from the structure, with Chief 20 establishing command. Upon investigation it was found that the observed smoke was steam coming from the home's dryer vent. Command 20 cancelled all responding units, with Truck 20 returning to service and station.
