By Firefighter Mike Cline
May 13, 2019

At ~ 1:39 PM, Westmorland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an odor of Natural Gas outside of a building on Andrews Drive. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (3 firefighters), with Lieutenant 20 going directly to the scene, and an additional firefighters manning Station 20. Westmorland 911 also dispatched Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One) to support Station 20. Lieutenant 20 was first on scene, an identified a petrochemical smell between the Valvoline Instant Oil Change and the Self Service Car Wash on Andrews Drive. When Engine 20 arrived, the crew surveyed the area with 4-Gas Meters, and determined that the odor was coming from fluids from an automobile at the entrance of the Murrysville Valvoline Instant Oil Change. Personnel from the Valvoline Instant Oil Change remediated the leaked automobile fluids. Lieutenant 20 determined that no further fire/rescue services were needed, and released Engine 20 for return to service and station.
