At ~ 3:13 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a 2-vehicle auto collision with entrapment just east of the intersection of Old William Penn Highway and Andrews Drive. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (4 firefighters including Captain 20), Engine 20 (2 firefighters), with 1 firefighter going directly to the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. 2nd Assistant Chief 64 was first on scene, reported that an automobile had collided with a box delivery truck, and the car was on its roof, however the driver had self-extracted from the vehicle. Rescue 20 arrived on scene, Captain 20 established command of the scene, and found that the westbound lane of Old William Penn Highway was blocked. Command 20 shut down Old William Penn Highway between the Branthoover Cutoff and Tarr Hollow Road using Engine 20, Rescue 64, and Engine 78, while Rescue 20's crew remediated the accident debris/leaking fluids, and assisted the Station 610 EMS Personnel. Station 610 EMS assessed the driver of the overturned automobile, and transported the driver to a local hospital for further evaluation. McElhinney Towing arrived on scene, recovered the overturned vehicle, and Rescue 20's crew completed the remediation of the accident debris and leaked fluids. The box delivery truck was able to depart the scene under its own power, after the Murrysville Police had completed their investigation. Once the roadway was clear, Command 20 reopened Old William Penn Highway, and returned all responding units to service and station.
