Motor Vehicle Accident Involving a Motorcycle - Sardis Road

At 0046 hours, Rescue 20 was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a SUV in the 3600 block of Sardis Road. Murrysville Police were first to arrive at the scene and reported that the operator of the motorcycle was deceased. Station 20 units were requested to block off Sardis Road at Hickory Hill Road and Sloanwood Drive. A crew from Rescue 20 (4 firefighters including Sergeant 20) and Squad 20 (2 firefighters) handled the road closure detail. 2 additional firefighters manned the station. An additional crew from the combined apparatus as well as Chief 20, Assistant Chief 20, Lieutenant 20 and Sergeant 20 removed debris and provided vehicle fluid containment. This crew also assisted in scene lighting for the investigation by Murrysville Police and the Westmoreland County Coroner's office. The vehicles were removed from the scene by Gombach Towing. Crews out approximately 3 hours.
