By Secretary Mike Cline
April 7, 2021

At ~12:33 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for an odor of gasoline within a home on Simmons Circle. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (3 firefighters including Assistant Chief 20 and Sergeant 20), with 1 firefighter manning the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations to support Station 20: Export VFC (Station 22), Sardis VFC (Station 78), White Valley VFC (Station 64), Station 9 (Level Green VFC), and Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One). Engine 22, Truck 20, Engine 78, and Medic 617 arrived on scene, with Assistant Chief 20 establishing the command, and finding that the home's occupants has evacuated the structure. Command 20 determined that sufficient Fire/Rescue resources were at the scene, and returned all enroute Station 64 and 9 units. The interior firefighters from Truck 20 and Engine 22 entered the structure with 4-Gas Meters, while Station 610 EMS assessed and released one of the home's occupants. Upon investigation the firefighters found that an automobile in the garage was leaking gasoline. The firefighters moved the car outside, stopped the gasoline leak, and ventilated the structure. Once the home was ventilated and safe for reoccupation, Command 20 returned the structure to the owner, and released all on scene units. Truck 20 returned to service and station.
