By Secretary Mike Cline
May 6, 2021

At ~7:56 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a basement fire at a home on Foxwood Court. Station 20 responded with Truck 20 (2 firefighters including Captain 20), Engine 20 (4 firefighters), with 2 firefighters (Assistant Chief 20 and Chaplain 20) going directly to the scene, and 1 firefighter manning the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following stations to support Station 20: Station 64 (White Valley VFC), Station 78 (Sardis VFC), Station 22 (Export VFC), Station 63 (Claridge VFC), Station 170 (Monroeville #4), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), and the Murrysville Police. Assistant Chief 20 was first on scene, established the command, found a working basement fire, and ensured that the home's occupants were out of the structure. Engine 78, Truck 20, and Engine 64 arrived on scene, with Engine 78 extending an attack line into the structure, Truck 20 erecting its 100ft ladder, and Engine 64 taking the hydrant to provide the water supply, as Station 610 evaluated the home's occupants and set up the rehab station across the street. The additional arriving fire units were placed in staging positions and sent their crews forward to the command post. The interior firefighters extinguished the fire, as Medic 614 transported one of the home's occupants to a local trauma center for further evaluation. Once the fire was extinguished the structure was ventilated and inspected for any extension of the fire. Once the structure was deemed safe for reentry, Command 20 returned the home to the owner, and returned all responding units to station. Truck 20 and Engine 20 returned to service and station.
