November 19, 2021

At ~ 3:30 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a passenger vehicle colliding with the traffic signal control unit at the intersection of William Penn Highway and Old William Penn Highway. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (4 firefighters), Squad 20 (1 firefighter), with 3 firefighters (including Assistant Chief 20 and Sergeant 20) going directly to the scene, and 1 firefighter manning the station. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched the following additional stations for the incident: Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), the Murrysville Police, and the Monroeville Police. Assistant Chief 20 arrived on scene, found that a passenger vehicle had gone off the eastbound lane at the intersection, hit the traffic signal control unit, which caused the car to roll over into the right eastbound lane of William Penn Highway. Rescue 20 arrived to find the occupants out of the vehicle, with Medic 613 EMS assessing the occupants, and the responding police units rerouting the eastbound traffic onto Old William Penn Highway. Rescue 20's crew cleared debris from the roadway, while Medic 613 transported the vehicle driver to a local trauma center for further evaluation. Gombach Towing recovered the vehicle, which reopened the eastbound lanes of William Penn Highway. With the reopening of the roadway, the Murrysville Police released all Station 20 units for return to service and station.
