At ~11:10 AM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) to assist Station 64 (White Valley VFC) for a 2-Vehicle Collision with Entrapment at the intersection of William Penn Highway and Harrison City Road. Station 20 responded with Rescue 20 (5 firefighters), Engine 20 (2 firefighters), with 2 firefighters (including Chief 20) going directly to the scene. Westmoreland 911 also dispatched Station 87 (Harrison City VFC), Station 610 (Murrysville Medic One), the Murrysville Police, and STAT MEDEvac. Station 20 units arrived on scene, to find 2 vehicles in the intersection with one operator entrapped within the vehicle; Rescue 64, Rescue 87, and Station 610 EMS working to extricate the entrapped operator, Chief 64 in command of the scene, and all lanes of traffic being routed around the intersection. Station 20 firefighters joined the combined extrication of the operator, set up an aerial ambulance landing zone in the westbound lanes of William Penn Highway, and assisted in the regulation of traffic. STAT MEDEvac 2 arrived on scene, and upon extrication of the vehicle operator departed the scene to a Pittsburgh Trauma Center. Once the aerial ambulance had departed, Command 64 released Rescue 20 for return to service and station, while Engine 20 remained on scene to assist in the clearing of the vehicle debris and removal of both vehicles. Once the vehicles were removed from the scene, Command 64 released Engine 20 for return to service and station.
