By Second Assistant Fire Chief Brian Synan
March 15, 2013
At 00:00 hours, Rescue 20 was dispatched for a single vehicle accident on Route 22 near Lillian Avenue with reported injuries. While en-route, Lieutenant 610 reported one vehicle into a garage with major structural damage, negative entrapment. With the report of structural damage, Assistant 20-2 added Special Operations 78 to the call. The crew from Rescue 20 arrived to find a large debris field on Route 22 and one patient being attended to by the crew from Medic One. The crew assisted with patient packaging, debris clean-up, and securing the scene around the garage. While at the incident, a tractor trailer stopped coming eastbound to report that a vehicle must have ran into the rear of his trailer. Due to being fully loaded, the driver did not realize he was hit by the midsize SUV. The SUV had struck the rear of the tractor trailer and then traveled across an open grass lot before striking the corner of the two car garage.
The car was removed from the garage by Wally's Transport without causing any more damage to the garage. Units out approximately one hour.
