At ~ 5:41 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a multi-vehicle collision near the intersection of Windover Road and Hay Lane. Station 20 responded with 3 firefighters going to the station to crew Rescue 20, while Lieutenant 20 went directly to the scene. Lieutenant 20 was first on scene, established command, and found that due to the icy road conditions, 3 vehicles had slid off the road, but the occupants had self-extracted from the vehicles. Command 20 determined that no fire/rescue services were needed at the scene, Rescue 20 was held in station, and requested that the Murrysville Public Works dispatch a salt truck to the location to remediate the icy road conditions so the automobiles could depart the scene. Once the roadway was treated by the Public Works Department, Command 20 released Rescue 20 for return to service.
