By Secretary Mike Cline
July 27, 2020

At ~1:27 PM, Westmoreland 911 dispatched Station 20 (Murrysville VFC) for a report of a garbage truck pulling down utility wires near the intersection of Hobaugh Avenue and Chestnut Street. Station 20 responded with Engine 20 (4 firefighters including Assistant Chief 20), with 1 firefighter going directly to the scene, and 1 firefighter/engineer manning the station. Engine 20 arrived at the scene, Assistant Chief 20 established command, and found that a Garbage Truck had pulled down a low hanging Windstream Telephone Line, closing Hobaugh Avenue between School Road North and Chestnut Street. Command 20 relayed the Windstream Pole Number to Westmoreland 911 so Windstream could dispatch repair crews to the location to repair the line. Engine 20's crew assisted the Murrysville Police in traffic regulation until Murrysville Public Works blocked off the affected stretch of Hobaugh Avenue. Upon Windstream's arrival, Command 20 turned the scene over to the Windstream Supervisor, and returned Engine 20 to service and station.
